When I was younger, I was taught to help the needy.
I was told that I should help the ones who needed my help.
I was told that I should put others’ needs and wants before my own.
I was told that I was blessed and in return do my duty.
But no one told me that some people need more than just material things.
No one told me that some people need more than just advice.
No one told me that some people need more than just a shoulder to cry on.
No one told me that some people need more than just a friend.
The needy becomes greedy.
The needy becomes clingy.
The needy becomes crazy.
The needy becomes a part of me.
Now here is my message to the needy who has now been too dependent of me.
All you see before you is all of me,
All that I can give you is the best of me,
This is the real me.
I can be there for you,
I can advice you,
I can help you,
I can have compassion for you.
But I need this;
Free me, take me not for granted,
Appreciate me, cause one day I might be gone,
Free yourself, cause I can’t do it for you.
Today, I had to clean up the storage room connected to my office.
Thank goodness for the staff I have helping me.
I just discovered that my former upper body strength is no longer in existence. I found it so hard to move boxes and shelves around that I am worried for my own health. Will I soon become a blob of a human, big enough to battle Jabba the Hutt.
So perhaps this is another addition to my CNY resolution.
When I first heard of Brad Renfro’s death, it was on E!
My first though was, “Damn, he is just my age and he is dead?”
But when reports claim him to be a drug addict, somehow I was not too shock. With the young Hollywood scandal and addiction mania filling up our airwaves and media space, you would wonder how the entertainment business can still function.
The news of Heath Ledger’s death, came to me as a real shocker. I was driving to work with Fly FM’s Pagi Show blaring out of my speakers. The news came. I thought it was a sick joke. But it was very much true.
Words cannot explain how I feel when 2 young stars’ life end too soon.
It makes me realize (although, I admit that I might forget), that we should always live our lives to the fullest.
Heath’s next and final movie will be out this summer. I am not sure if the box office sales of the Batman installation will go through the roof because of the movie or due to Heath’s death.
I am now wondering how Michelle is going to tell Matilda Rose about her daddy’s death. Does Matilda even understand what the fuss is all about?
I am the only blogger that I know that does not own a proper digital camera. I have to depend on the good will of other to get my pics. Sad indeed but nonetheless, very true.
Good ole’ Ben has been uploading pics onto the PC as soon as possible. But it is dear ole’ moi that is procrastinating the process of posting them up. I know sorry will not change the fact that it is late. So I will make it my New Year’s resolution.
I know that 2008 has already started. So fine, I will mark it with the Muslim New Year… Already started too huh? Fine, since I am Chinese. I will mark my New Year’s resolution on Chinese New Year. So that means I have about 2 more weeks to buck up and come up with a list right?
These are pictures from my hot air balloon New Year Eve’s celebration.
Me near The Malaysian Eye or Eye of Malaysia. Whatever it is called. Did not get on it though because it was New Year’s Eve and the crowd was massive. Plus no one in my entourage wants to go on the big ferris wheel. Phooey!!! They say the gov was going to tear it down after that night. Somehow, my guts tell me otherwise. Why would the gov spend so much money on an infrastructure of the mammoth proportion to then bring it all down without getting its investment back? And damn am I good. Recently the good news was featured in the local dailies, the gov is keeping it up until August 31st, ’08. OK, all I need to do is find a date for this thing… Any takers?
Pretty pathetic effort of trying to take a pic of myself with the Eye in the background.
We were suppose to tour the interior of the balloon when they were blowing it up. However, due to poor organization on the event company’s side. That did not happen. Reason being, “We are running late and there is no time.” Tip for future event organizers, set up at least 4 hours before your freaking event and not 2 hours prior to it. Our ride was delayed by almost 90 mins. It was a fun and interesting experience.
OK, into the hot air balloon we go. Do not ask me why I am doing the 2 finger peace sign.
Yay, finally got everyone in the pic. And guess what, no more corny peace sign. Haha!
After 5 mins or so, (The ride was actually supposed to be 15 mins) out we all come.
And we then we spent the countdown in the rain. Fun, anyone?
Nevertheless, it is the experience that counts and the people you are with at that very moment.
I have been advising a few people who want to make it into the entertainment biz. And to be honest, it is one of the toughest businesses to break into; especially if you are a newbie without any experience.
Most of you would know by now that I am an actress by training and been active in the local theater scene for a few years. I am not much of a singer unless you count my participation in the school choir which I reluctantly join. Therefore, I am not much of an authority to talk on starting a singing career. However, singing and acting do cross paths in some expect. After all, both are performance based.
I am basing this whole entry on my acting experience.
2. Join a Reality Talent show.
The following videos are winners and finalists of different shows. In my opinion, you do not really have to win. Of course winning will make it easier, however, if you are good and you have received enough exposure in the media as a contestant, you should be one step closer in achieving your dreams.
Here we have Vince Chong of Akademi Fantasia 1 and Jaclyn Victor of Malaysian Idol 1.
Shayne Ward of X-factor
Chris Daughtry
3. Volunteer at gigs.
This takes a lot of hard work and perseverance. But it is the best place to network. You will never know who you meet and who can help you out. Plus, you get to know more about the insider stuff and how to do things.
4. Exposure on the Internet
There are many websites now that you can use to get more exposure. Video hosting sites like www.Youtube.com is an excellent way to post up videos. Then there is all the social networking sites, like MySpace, Friendster and Multiply. If you want, you can always get a blog or buy a domain name via www.hostonfire.com
Here are a few people who got signed on after being discovered online.
Soulja Boy
Colbie Caillat
These are just tips I have modified based on my acting experience and expertise over the years. Results may vary according to individuals and effort put in. Plus it really depends on how talented you are. Good luck!!
