Interesting Sunday

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

I was supposed to go and watch Butoh in The Park at KLPAC today. But there were thousands of roadblocks along the way, causing massive jams that killed my mood. So sis and I went to KLCC instead.

I did a lot of shopping. Well mainly at Mark and Spencer’s at the lingerie department. If you must know why. Basically my bra strap snapped last Thursday during the bowling trip. So now I need to buy new ones. Sparky, Rorschach and Just-Marv apparently have a diabolical plan to unhook my bra strap. So I guess one of them succeeded. Now my mission is to find out who and how… Hmmm…

Anyways, after that I made a little detour to Tiffany & Co. Now, I am not a person who actually goes for luxury items. But there is this one ring that has caught my eye and I have been hunting for it for almost 6 months now. It is from their celebration ring collection, called the Voile Ring.

Lovely, isn’t it? But when I saw the actual piece my heart fell. It was tiny. When the sales person told me the price, I wasn’t at all shocked. RM 20,000. I did not bat an eyelid. It is just that I was very disappointed that it was very delicate. Too delicate in fact for my fat fingers. Sigh!!! The good part of this trip was, I actually found out my finger size. So it wasn’t a total waste. Will I still get that ring? Perhaps. That is if they come up with a slightly bigger version of it.

I love shopping at KLCC because the staff there is very well trained in customer service. Then again, I guess it also depends on the clientele. Like it or not, money is definitely king and it commands many. Plus, KLCC has Kinokuniya. There is this book that I really want. It is about Kabuki but it costs RM500.

Anyways, tonight we had the third installation of LiveShocks. Noah and I previewed Older for an audience for the very first time. Nerve wrecking but it was good. This time round at LiveShocks, we had two more girls. Yay!!! No more sausage fest!!! I did not write anything this time because I wanted to focus for Older tomorrow.

From Alex :-
Just to sum up what happened script wise at the session:

- a hamster is eaten by a snake – heralding a post-apocalyptic world in which carnival freaks are food – a disturbingly oedipal relationship between client and prostitute – living in a city of paper – a coming out dinner of the most unexpected nature – war with the turtle -

AIR CON

Friday, July 4th, 2008

On Wednesday, after practise at Rorschach’s, I went to watch a play Air Con with Glam. Now the reason I went to watch it was to support my friend Zalfian. But I really enjoyed myself there.

Would I recommend it? OF COURSE!!!!!

AIR CON

WRITTEN BY

DIRECTED BY
Jo Kukathas & Zalfian Fuzi

INTRODUCING
Amerul Affendi, Dara Othman, Firdaus Che Yahaya, Hazarul Hasnain, Nick Davis, Ryan Lee Baskaran and Zahiril Adzim.
WITH
Nam Ron, Chew Kin Wah, and Ismadi Wakiri.

Chep and Burn are top students in Sekolah Menengah Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Mukarram Shah, an elite school in Kedah. Head Boy, Burn, is the school’s golden boy and his best friend, Chep, is feared and respected by the younger boys for his quick temper and skill on the hockey field. The school is well respected for its strong academic and sports record. However the discovery of a dead prostitute in the abandoned railway tracks near their school unravels the status quo and we discover a less golden world of bullying, sex crimes and violence. Best friends William and Asif go from innocence to experience as they are forced to deal with the repercussions of the murder. But who is responsible for the murder and will they be held accountable?

Air Con challenges and interrogates the hypocritical habit of turning youth into scapegoats in times of moral panic. Ultimately, it casts a gentle albeit unflinching gaze at the perilous path of male adolescence, and interrogates the heartbreaking ways in which society often expects boys to become men.

Presented in Bahasa Malaysia (Kedah dialect) and English.

For Mature Audiences.

Bowling and Movie Day

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Part of the LiveWire gang, well the team for Older actually, went out on a bowling and movie day. This is an improvement from last month’s outing, where a whole gang’s outing turned to bowling and lunch for Sparky and Flo. Actually, that was the day that Sparky and Flo were created. Wow!!! Imagine that…

Anyhow, Rorschach and Just-Marv woke up late. (Is that even something new now???) But poor dears have to brave the crazy Malaysian weather.

Sparky and Flo basically trawled Mid Valley until Rorschach showed up, wet and miserable. Whoops!!! Just-Marv was just a bit too lazy to crawl out of bed until Sparky finally tempted him with free lunch. Only 3 of us bowled because Just-Marv was late.

Thanks to the early bird deal. We had 3 games each at RM10. Sparky and I had a bet. Loser buys lunch. Guess who won? Muahahaha!!!

The boys suggested that we play pool the next time. Guess, I’ll get my arse kicked then.

After a quick lunch at Kiku Zakura, we watched Wanted.

Here is the thing about the movie, you either hate it or you will love it. Personally I would not recommend it. It will be one of the movies that you would want to watch to get it out of your system. And if you love a strong plot/storyline. This one is not for you.

But if you love bending bullet and Angelina Jolie. Then go watch it. However, this is not one of her best works.

Sparky and Flo at Urbanscapes: Pictures

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Here are the pictures I promised.
Well, mainly FLO because Sparky is the one taking pictures.
But we got appearances from Just-Marv.

:)

THE MARKETPLACE

RandomActs

One of the RandomActs assignments.

Yup, Flo is in full garb. Just thought the rainbow colored windmill was a great contrast to my dark and grim look.

I know that I look really weird for this picture. But this is what happened….

Sparky: Hey, Flo, look up!

Flo: What?

*flash!!!*

Flo: (*&^%@#!!!

Bought the MAGIC MUSHROOM for Sparky!!!

Cool stuff. I spent almost RM100 at this stall.

Technically, the marketplace was a disappointment, arrangement wise. Stalls were too close together. The market was broken up in three places. Air flow was…. What freaking air flow…

For those who have been following my misadventures, I used to run an arts market. So I guess that kind of gives me the license to criticize what was offered. The stalls were cool. Met Choon Wai from Urban Creatures here. Talk about big surprise. Have not seen him since I visited LPSM last. There are really awesome items for sale there.

Guess, how much damage I caused to my wallet. RM 300!!!!

Mostly spent on local artiste CDs, locally directed movies and unique silk screened T-shirts.

THE ART GALLERY

Creepy art installation that reminds me of a memorial for a dead child. The Teddy’s eyes were bloody.

Hmmm… A bloody teddy bears’ picnic perhaps???

Part of the creepy art stuff. I nickname this Transvestite Humpty Dumpty.

Flo does a Ling Ling aka The Lingster impression.

Argh!!! Styrofoam monster!!! I loved this art piece. There are strings which you can pull on and the limbs move. So awesome. Apparently Sparky did a performing arts piece similar to this back in the UK. And he was the puppet. :)

Flo with the lovely ladies of United Creative Movement, Elaine and Chantelle. Sparky, Flo and Just-Marv were part of their video art piece.

I love Bear Bric.

We managed to catch a couple of theater performances. Sparky won’t take pictures out of respect for the performers. Which I think is pretty cool. Never gave that much thought before. Will be more mindful next time.

GOOFING ABOUT AT THE ORAL STAGE STALL AT THE MARKET PLACE.

Don’t ask.

So much tape!!!! Can’t escape!!!!

Oh well….

Attacking Just-Marv with the Oral Stage Compass!!!
Don’t ask me why he is stoning. It is probably the chips he ate.

Sparky, Just-Marv and myself broke out singing songs from Avenue Q.

After that incident, Sparky decided that everyone from LIVEWIRE is banned from singing Avenue Q in public. Whoops!!!
