Heard on the radio…

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Heard this on the radio when driving back.
I did not know who it was from so I just searched the song title and got this.

All Around Me by Flyleaf

My hands are searching for you
My arms are outstretched towards you
I feel you on my fingertips
My tongue dances behind my lips for you

This fire rising through my being
Burning I’m not used to seeing you

I’m alive, I’m alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I’m breathing
Holding on to what I’m feeling
Savoring this heart that’s healing

My hands float up above me
And you whisper you love me
And I begin to fade
Into our secret place

The music makes me sway
The angels singing say we are alone with you
I am alone and they are too with you

I’m alive, I’m alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I’m breathing
Holding on to what I’m feeling
Savoring this heart that’s healing

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I’m breathing
Holding on to what I’m feeling
Savoring this heart that’s healing

And so I cry
The light is white
And I see you

I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I’m breathing
Holding on to what I’m feeling
Savoring this heart that’s healing

Take my hand
I give it to you
Now you owe me
All I am
You said you would never leave me
I believe you
I believe

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I’m breathing
Holding on to what I’m feeling
Savoring this heart that’s healed

My first makeover

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

I have always wanted a makeover. But never actually had the guts to go do it. As usual, I procrastinated for the longest of time. Being a part time actress, this is not very good. Anyhow, I have been postponing my comeback for too long. So the first thing I had to do was to get my headshots done. I have not had a proper headshot for ages.

So finally, last Saturday after breakfast with J at La Bodega, Pavillion, I bought a voucher from Chanel to claim my makeover.

I first had to sit for a short facial cleansing by one of the staff. Very sweet girl.

Then I was introduced to Dennis, my makeup artist from Korea. Dennis cannot speak English, so we had an interpreter in between. Dennis commended me for my good skin but then scolded me for not treating it well. Whoops!!!

Anyhow, I had about 7 layers of products applied to my face before they even start.

1. Moisturiser
2. Eye gel
3. Sunblock
4. Pearl creme
5. Liquid foundation
6. Concealer
7. Spray on Serum

After that, my eyes were done. A fake jawline. Lips and cheeks.

All that took a good 75 mins. We then move on to the 20 mins of hairstyling. My hair was all ‘poofed’ up. Personally, I did not like it. My face is round and the hair somehow emphasized its roundness. :P After hair, I went to a 5 min photo shoot. We took about a dozen pics and I only chose 2. These were the good ones.

Well here is the finish product.

So what do you think?
I know it looks very natural. But it is real hardwork just to look ‘naturally’ beautiful. ;)

Special thanks to Ashley in UK who help to convert my picture file into a jpeg. Miss you gal!

How true this song can be….

I just love Nelly Furtado and her new album.

This is helping heal my pain.

The wound is still there. I am not sure why I let my self wallow in this. Yes, I guess, I still have a hard time letting go of things. Adel ar Adel…

So this is what I am

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

When I was back in High school, I always wondered what clique my friends and I will be in if we were to be judged by the standards used to classify the Western high schools.

You see, my friends and I can be considered, a class of our own. We were not the popular clique, though we were well known enough around the district. We were not the jocks, though we do not fail terribly in sports. We were not the geeks or the nerds, though we were not dumb either. We fare fairly well in our studies though I have to probably attribute that to the fact that we are Asians.

I would say that we were rather balanced. We were from the top two graduating classes in our year. We held many positions in clubs and societies. Most of us were on the disciplinary board. I was the biggest bitch on campus, being the Head Girl (School President, Captain etc whatever name your school gives it). I am sorry Tash , your buddy here was a prefect. :P

Though a junior once told my friend Sharon that we were in a popular clique, I pondered about that.

I know I have the tendency to get myself into the spotlight because I am rather vocal. I won’t apologize for that. But to consider myself popular is a whole new ball game for me. I know that even throughout my college and university years, I was never a loner.

Though many people have considered me weird for being, well myself. I read the Tarot and the I-Ching. I have a huge collection of New Age books. The fact that I can be planning and speaking about 2 different things at the same time. (I think I have split personalities but then again who cares about us. :D) I have rage issues as well.

No matter what, I am still well liked. At least, I believe I am well liked.

When I was dating my ex, he tried to convince me that I was a Goth. I rejected the idea. Because to me a Goth, was a person with white make up, black lipstick, eyeliner and wore spikes 24/7. Heck, I did not even know he was a Goth. Just for the fact he never fit the stereotyped look of one. At least, the one that I was exposed to. Dating him was rather educational, it opened my eyes to a new world. I am getting in touch with my inner Goth now. My best buddy, Tash , is a Goth too.

When I saw this quiz on her site, I just had to do it. (Plus the fact that I am stressed out beyond words. Which explains why I am having bouts of insomnia and the lack of appetite)

From the quiz, I am tied between being an Emo Kid and a Goth. So I guess my ex was right to a certain degree. Though many will question the validity of such a quiz. But then again, do we need a quiz to tell us who we really are?

However, some parts of me are inclined to believe this. I like the idea of being a Goth. I already have some stuff that are Gothic in nature.

Though now my next mission is to find out what in the world does Emo means. Please note that it is EMO, not Elmo, the furry red creature from Sesame Street.

No matter what the quiz is rather fun.

You scored as Goth. That’s awesome! Go you!

I want to go there…

Friday, February 9th, 2007

1. United Kingdom

My parents and siblings have been there. I am the only one left out. Well, alright. I was there once but I was only 2 and on transit. So it does not count at all.

2. Dharamsala

After meeting the Tibetans back in Berea. I just want to go there and perhaps offer my help, anyway I can. Hotfoot (my friend) was there to teach for a while and his Tibetan has became so good. However, I wonder how the Tibetans will take it since I am Chinese.

3. Hawai’i

Always wanted to go there since I was 10. Plus now, I found out the University of Hawaii has the best staff and archive on Asian theater.

4. Hollywood

I am a budding screenwriter and I have an acting background. So this place is kind of a natural choice, don’t you think so?

5. Vietnam

So I can watch the Vietnamese water puppet show, try to buy an traditional Vietnamese costume (that will hopefully fit) and see the effects of agent Orange.

6. Cambodia

Angkor Wat!!! A lot of my family and friends, after coming back said I should try to go there and help the children. We will see how that works out.

7. Sarawak

It’s a part of Malaysia I have not been to yet. Plus a lot of my good buddies are from there.

8. Kelantan

I want to see if this state is as bad as some media portray it to be. Plus I want to complete visiting every state in Malaysia.

9. India
- Taj Mahal and the Ganges
- Good Indian food
- Great fabrics and jewelry

10. South Korea
Fell in love with this place when I was 14. After being introduce to K-pop. I want to meet Hong Jung Ho, who directed many of H.O.T.’s music videos and pick his brains. Plus I want a Korean traditional dress.

11. France
Mostly for the Eifel tower and the art galleries. However, after watching the Da Vinci Code. I might want to visit a few places, “suggested”.

12. Germany
My pen pal Mark is there. So it is natural. Plus I want to see the Berlin wall for real. I saw a piece of it on exhibition in Washington D.C. but it is not the same.

13. New York City

You cannot be in the United States and not visit New York.

14. Miami

To see if it is true that being in Miami feels like you are being in South America instead of the United States.

15. Mexico

Real Mexican food, a sombrero and pinata.

16. Salem

I wanted to study to be a real witch when I was 13. Never managed to do it but going to Salem where it seemingly all began is just something that I need to get out of my system.

17. Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre

Apparently, V said I cannot be an actress and not visit this place so this is on my list.

18. Kennedy Center

To watch wonderful plays unfold.

19. Angkor Wat

Heritage building and Angelina Jolie was there.

20. Scotland

To visit castles, buy a kilt, try to play a bagpipe and attempt a Haggis.

21. Las Vegas

Get married at one of the chapels??? Hahahaha!! NOPE!! I want to see the lights, the shows and try my luck at the slot machines.

22. Texas

Have the cowboy experience. And I DO NOT mean Brokeback Mountain.

23. Times Square

Genting Highlands has one, K.L. has one, Penang will soon have one. So I must go to the original one to see what the fuss is all about.

24. Pangkor Island

My good friend lives there. Can you believe it? That is so awesome.

25. Brunei

I have been practically to all of Malaysia’s neighbours. So why not?

26. Roma

The history and the art galleries.

27. New Zealand

To count sheep? Actually to do a lot of extreme sports and plus do the Haka. (Am I spelling this right?)

28. Russia

To see how cold it really is. And watch the traditional dance.

29. Brazil

To visit a plastic surgeon… Hahaha!! Well, there is so much culture there that will be so fun to experience.

Episode 12 Paradise Kiss

Monday, December 4th, 2006

Personally, I would have prefered if they just left it when Yukari found the dresses George left for her. At least, it will give us a bit of hope and come up with our own ending. (Perhaps even come up with the second season of the anime). Furthermore, I think the 10 years later deal was just a very lazy move to end the anime, not to mention, invoking the wrath of many fans including myself. Does anyone actually know the ending in the manga? I heard that it was slightly different. Sigh, even if Yukari did not get together with George, I was kind of hoping she might end up with Hiro-kun.

Finally.. The dress

I can’t believe that there is an actual dress like that. But it does exist.

Did you know that they actually sell the Butterfly ring on the Paradise Kiss official site?

Paradise Kiss Episode 6

Here we will get to see more characters from Ai Yazawa’s earlier anime, Gokinjo Monogatari, like Mikako’s husband Tsutomu.

Though I am kind of surprised that they actually had the sex scene in this anime. Hey before you go around misunderstanding, this is not hentai or porn. It is just a kind of coming of age deal.

Do you have the guts to run away from home to pursue your dream??
I love this episode because that was very brave of her.
