Hokkien Podcast
Tuesday, February 13th, 2007Like many fans of the Internet, I know the existence of Podcasting. But I however was ignorant to the Hokkien Podcast that was started almost two years ago by fellow Penangite, John Ong. (no relations) John is now currently based in the United States and is back for the Lunar New Year Holidays in good old, glorious Penang.
John is an advocate for Podcasting. He told me that everywhere he goes these days, he will strike up a conversation with, “Do you know about Podcast?”
Clever, very clever indeed.
OK, you might be wondering why John’s podcast is different from the others. The reason is simple. It is in Penang styled Hokkien. Now, how many people that you know, that can boast that credential?
John is also nominated as the Celebrity of The Month, for his contribution in promoting Penang Style Hokkien, Podcasting to Malaysians and just being himself.
I have included below, two of John’s website,
The first is PENANG HOKKIEN , which will be added to the Category: All Things Penang. This site is where the Hokkien Podcast is hosted on. Though very fun and no topic restrictions, content might be offensive to some. So users disgression is adviced.
The second is, ONGLINE PODCAST . This will be added under the Category: Alien’s Invansion. I know I would normally classify this as Other Homo Sapiens Online. But John is too quirky to be human. (Oh dear, John is so going to kill me!!)
Anyway, you can catch John LIVE at the Little Penang Street Market on the 25th of February 2007 at the Upper Penang Road.
If you can’t wait that long, you can go to this event instead
